This page details some of the many ministries which Broughty Ferry Baptist Church provides.

Bible Studies
There are several weekly Bible Study groups running at different times in various homes around Broughty Ferry and Carnoustie. There will be one near you which you can come along to.

Achord
Achord are the church's praise band who lead the congregation in worship most Sundays. They sometimes even sound quite good. Achord meet most Friday evenings to practice and to have a general play of any songs which come into their heads! New members are warmly welcome.

Achord

Over the last few years, the band has held fund raising concerts.

The band meets every Friday evening (7:30pm...ish) to practice the songs and hymns for the coming Sunday services. You don't need to be a band member or singer to attend these relaxed times of fun and fellowship - all welcome.

Christianity Explored
The church runs this popular course from time to time. The course is free, you won't be asked to sing or read out loud and you can ask any questions you like about Christianity. Please contact Jim Leiper (01382 739928) for details or come along on the night - all welcome, you don't need to be a member.

Prayer Breakfast
Each Saturday morning, men from the church family get together for a valuable time of prayer and fellowship. The meetings (in the church lounge), start at 8:30am with tea and toast and time for a chat. This is followed by a time of prayer. This ministry is a great encouragement to all who attend and it is marvelous to look back and see how the Lord has already answered many of the prayers offered up at these meetings.
The meetings are usually finished by 9:30am.

Care Homes Ministry
A group of people from the church have been going to 4 local nursing homes over the past 5 years. This is not entertainment. This is an outreach into the community, covering up to 100 older people every month (and sometimes the care assistants join in and hear the gospel too).

The spiritual care of the elderly is very important. Many of them are very lonely and are so glad when we come to visit them and take an interest in them. We bring them the word of God, pray with them and find it a blessing to preach the good news of the gospel to them. We are very privileged to be able to minister freely in these homes and have the support of the management teams there. Many of the residents have accepted the Lord into their lives and have since gone home to the lord.

Mission Matters
The Missionary Core Group was formed with the aim of increasing awareness and generating interest in all aspects of World mission within the church fellowship.

As well as following developments within BMS World Mission, the Baptist Church's own missionary organisation, the members meet every three months or so to share their interest in Mission work in general or news from a specific organisation with which they have an association e.g. Leprosy Mission, Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) or Overseas Missionary Fellowship (OMF).

Any relevant items of information are included in the group's article, " Mission Matters " in the monthly church magazine. News and prayer letters from missionaries with personal connections to the fellowship e.g. Justine, our BMS link in Kosova or the Heron family with SIM in Peru can also be found in the magazine or on the dedicated Missions section of the notice board in the church hall.

Herons

The Heron Family

If you have a connection with any Mission organisation or simply share an interest in Mission work in general, please feel free to join the group at its next meeting. Details are available from the pastor or other members of the group ie: Mary Davidson, Eileen Duncan, David Eunson, Doris Robb, Gordon Robertson, Betty Squire, Shirley Thompson and John Whyte.

Remember, ' Mission Matters ' because Mission matters!

Good News Singers
The Good News Singers are a group who learn songs of worship together. As well as singing for enjoyment the Singers lead worship at special praise services. The Singers work very hard to serve the church and are encouraged by the prayer support and words of encouragement they receive

The Singers meet twice per month, at 7.30pm at 46 Monifieth Road and finish promptly at 9pm when tea, coffee and cakes are served. Everyone is welcome to come along.

Banner Group
We meet from time to time to prepare new banners as part of our worship of God. View more information about the banners created.
