Pastor - Rev Dr Brian Talbot
Brian Talbot was brought up on a farm in the Lune Valley, south of the Lake District. He met his wife Kathryn at the College of Ripon and York where they trained for the teaching profession. After obtaining her B.Ed Kathryn has worked as a primary school teacher in various places most recently in Abronhill PS in Cumbernauld, the school that Rachel (P1) and Benjamin (P5) attended. Helen attended Abronhill High School and completed two years there. While in Ripon Brian felt called to the pastoral ministry and after a brief time of paid employment trained for the Baptist ministry at the Scottish Baptist College between 1988 and 1992. He served as interim pastor at Cumbernauld for six months prior to being called as the full-time pastor in February 1993. In 1999 he obtained a Ph.D. in Church History from Stirling University. His ministry in the town included playing a leading role in the formation of Broadwood Baptist Church, constituted in 2005, together with a range of community ministries including participation in team-chaplaincies in two Primary Schools and one High School. Since moving to Broughty Ferry Brian has quickly established himself in the church and wider Christian community.
